Halloween

What do you dress up as for Halloween when you are 10?

Things like puppies and super heros are too young

Creativity is high, supplies are low.

What to do ?You come up with the brilliant idea to be a fisherman
Dad's old fishing hat, a flannel shirt, cargo pants, and water boots, an old rod from the garage and we were good to go!

Of course if you are Keegan you have a problem - you don't like chocolate. Since adults out in the country know they are not getting a lot of trick or treaters they buy the candy they want to eat themselves (which is hands down chocolate). The nice thing about trick or treating around our house is that our kids are one of the very few who hit the houses. Therefore when they hold their bags open it only takes 4-5 houses to fill them!!!

Football wrap up - Pumpkin Carving

Keegan's first football season is over. They finished the season 3 wins, 0 loses, and 1 tie. He was able to play many positions including quarterback and lineman. He ran for several yards and even made a touch down. The season was a cold, wet one. Most of the time they played in the rain.
Tonight we carved pumpkins.

Keegan gutted and carved his pumpkin all by
himself this year.

He already knew what face he was hoping for
and went right to work.

His is the fourth from the left.

Deer Hunting

Keegan went to his grandparent's house this weekend to help his dad set up deer stands. Keegan has taken to the idea of hunting, particularly bow hunting. He would be old enough this year to hunt with his father and use one of his dad's tags. If this will happens remains to be seen.

But a hunter he has become none the less.

Hopefully when he gets back he will have some pictures from his new camera to share.

The Best Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday. It was the best birthday.
I went to the hunting shack with my friend Brady. We went grouse hunting with my dad. We spent the night. It was a lot of fun.

Then on Sunday afternoon my grandparents joined my family to help me celebrate.
The best part of my day was my presents. My parents gave me "The Dangerous Book For Boys" I have wanted it for over a year. I am so excited. I also received money from my one set of grandparents and my uncle Mark for a hunting bow I have been saving money for.

My other grandparents gave me a camera! One that can zoom in and out and has a flash. It has a lot of cool features and I couldn't wait for the battery to charge so I could try it out.

This was the best birthday. I am 10.

I started the summer before kindergarten. I am now in Fourth grade.
I only took one summer off. It was worth it.

I am so excited and proud!

First Day of School '09

The first day of school is just a memory.
I was nervous, excited. Both scared and excited.

I missed my friends. I was ready to go back.
I am used to being in Fourth grade already. I like my teacher, Mr. Smith.

Fourth grade will be o.k.

Fourth Grade - Here I Come

This year I will turn 10.
I will be in Fourth Grade.
I only have one year of Elementary School left.
I will earn my "poom" (jr. blackbelt)

This year I am growing up.

On The Beach

We spent 5 hours in the sun.

picking rocks,

and throwing the rocks,

and pinecone fight.

Two days at the beach was a good way to end the summer.
I have a sunburn on my back, but still had a good time.

I Survived 14 Days In A Van

I about went crazy.
But I survived 14 days in a van
with my mom, dad, 2 other brothers,
my 1 sister, and our dog.

We went through (or were in) North Dakota, South Dakota,
Nebraska, Colorado, and Utah.

We saw mountains.
We even saw the tallest mountain in Colorado - Mt. Elbert.
We also saw reservoirs
(my sister took a mud bath in one called Buckeye)
We drank out of springs, and swam in them too.

I even got up close to a herd of elk
(until someone's dog barked and scared them away)

This was the third waterfalls we saw on our trip.
This was taken in Sioux Falls
(at the Sioux Falls)

After spending two whole weeks in a van I can say this about my trip
"it was boring, happy, exciting, and I'm glad I went."

From Lowland to Mountains

I am in Colorado on a family vacation in the mountains. We are up very high. The elevation in Estes Park makes me quite dizzy. We have been to SW Colorado in a town called Naturita. We stayed in a cabin there. We also went to Ouray and Telluride which are mountain towns. We then headed across the mountain (which I found boring and car sickening) . We are now visiting Rocky Mountain National Park for a few days.
We have seen the biggest mountain in Colorado (Mt. Elbert) and this morning we finally were able to see some elk (well, elk butts) and we did get to see that they were spiked.

We will be heading toward Minnesota tomorrow stopping along the way. So far I think this trip is kind of fun, but it has also been boring.
